Settling in and Building Trust

In the early years, children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and connected. Our consistent and nurturing settling-in process helps your child build trust and confidence in their new environment. A dedicated key kaiako will support your child and whānau from the start, fostering a strong, secure relationship that helps them, and you, feel comfortable and confident.

Supporting Social-Emotional Learning

At Changepoint ELC, we actively support children’s social and emotional development by helping them understand their feelings, build positive relationships, and develop empathy and resilience. Through nurturing relationships, guided play, and thoughtful teaching, we create a safe and supportive environment where children learn to express themselves, work with others, and grow in confidence. For more information our Supporting social and emotional competence policy and procedure is available on request and in our centre.

Learning Plans and Stories

Each child will have an individual learning plan. This is created in collaboration with whānau. The plan helps guide each child’s individual learning. Learning stories are written to document the progress and experiences along the way. Stories will be shared via Storypark to whānau and documented in the child's hardcopy portfolio. The portfolio is a way for tamariki to revisit their own learning, as well as a memory for them to keep in years to come.

Whānau Involvement

At Changepoint ELC, we recognise that whānau are the primary educators and are the experts on their own children. We love our daily chats with whānau during drop off and pick up times, and aim to encourage learning that is happening at home to extend to ELC too.
"Children are a gift from the Lord;
    they are a reward from him."
